SKYCLAD - "VINTAGE WHINE" (MASSACRE)

Those of you who kindof liked Skyclad but beheld weary-eyed the balance of their metal/folk shifting ever more towards folk, will be happy to know that their latest, "Vintage Whine", restores the balance truly and well in favour for the heavy side.

Nonetheless, it ought to be observed that Skyclad have not lost their sharp-edged lyrics full of environmentally aware observations, clever puns and political stabs. The general more-heaviness of the album is interrupted by "No String Attached", and throughout all songs there is plenty of space for George Biddle's excellent violin playing. The CD is wrapped up with a neat little piano instrumental by her, too.

Nineteen-ninety-nine: A classic year with Skyclad's "Vintage Whine".
