NILE - "THE BEGINNING" (HAMMERHEART)

You can see how some demo bands make it and some never will. "The Beginning", containing Nile's two now rare "Festival of Atonement" and "Ramses Bringer of War" demos, sounds excellently produced and, though diamonds in the very rough, they show the stuff Nile was/is capable of.

None of the tracks on the first demo made it on the debut album, perhaps because you can hear a lack of identity. At times the band sounds a bit like Bolt Thrower, but they don't sound like Nile yet. On "Ramses Bringer of War" they have found their style, the style they continued/replicated on their debut album.

"In the Beginning" is a very interesting release, though of interest primarily to the fans. I guess there are plenty of those, however.
