WICKED MYSTIC - "LITHIUM" (MAUSOLEUM)

Wicked Mystic pleasantly surprised me with their previous album, "The Paramount Question". "Lithium", their most recent effort, pretty much continues where their previous album left off. We have impeccable guitar work and a dozen tracks that are most agreeable to the metal palate. Two of the songs stick out ("Calm Despair" and "Mournful Rhymes") and there are two well-succeeded ballads (the sensitive "The Reverie" and "Warhorse").

However (you knew this was coming...) there is still the one thing that also made "The Paramount Question" not quite to my personal unanimous liking: Vocalist Remko Roes. I just can't handle him, though it has to be said his vocal style is quite varied and manages to keep abreast of the indubitably high quality music.
