Gun Barrel is a rock'n'roll band to the bone. A good vocalist with a voice that's just rough enough and not too much of an accent, up-tempo rock songs, enough of a party atmosphere. Production is good, you hear all the instruments clearly. Musically, "Power-Dive" offers enough of a challenge in songs like "Straight down to Hell", "Gate of God" and "We Will Carry On" (a bit Rage-like). Everything's there, but somehow Gun Barrel don't get the old adrenalin going. Not in me, anyway. None of the tracks lodge themselves in my subconsciousness, and when I wake up in the middle of the night I sometimes have a tune in my head but never one that's on "Power-Dive".
