CHILDREN OF BODOM - "HATEBREEDER" (NUCLEAR BLAST)

Pretty much the same can be said about "Hatebreeder" than was said about Children of Bodom's debut, "Something Wild". Again, it's a pretty frantic album with aggressive vocals and regular excursions into the realms of neoclassical guitar wizardry.

Although the band claim to have less of a black metal touch to their new effort, I guess that means there wasn't one in their debut, either. The albums sound so identical in production and songwriting that it could very well have been the second half of "Something Wild".

That means, of course, that the band hasn't evolved or sought to experiment. It also means, luckily, that the album is against consistently well-written with cool guitar solos and, well, everything we know and love about Children of Bodom.
